Faculty
The history of chemical and process engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology dates back to the early 1970s, when the Institute of Chemical Engineering was established as a result of the merger of four chairs of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology. A few years later, on October 27, 1973, the Institute of Chemical Engineering (since 1986 the Institute of Chemical and Process Engineering) was granted the rights of a separate department of Warsaw University of Technology, and on October 23, 1991 it was transformed into the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering. Currently, Faculty has the right to confer the degree of doctor of technical sciences in chemical engineering. During its more than 40 years of activity, the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering has educated about 1,600 full-time graduates, conferred doctoral degrees to 145 people and postdoctoral degrees of technical sciences to 46 people, contributing significantly to the development of chemical engineering in the country. The faculty's research and teaching staff consists of 49 people, 19 of whom hold the title of professor or doctoral degree.
The current structure of the Department includes five research-teaching units:
- Chair of Dispersed Systems Engineering
- Department of Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering
- Department of Kinetics and Process Thermodynamics
- Department of Engineering and Dynamics of Chemical Reactors
- Department of Industrial Process Intensification
In the parametric evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education made on the basis of the evaluation of the results of scientific and research activities for 2014-2017, the department received a B category. In recent years, faculty members have been recognized with numerous prestigious national and international awards.
