| Description |
The course deals with fundamentals of heat transfer. It includes basic knowledge of heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation. |
| Prerequisites |
The knowledge of mathematics (calculus, ODE and PDE), as well as fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is assumed. |
| Course content |
Energy and momentum balances (steady-state and transient heat transfer); determination of heat transfer, heat fluxes and temperature distribution; determination and prediction of heat transfer coefficients. Introduction to the theory of heat exchangers.
The course comprises of lectures, tutorials and 2 projects (homework). |
