| Course title |
Heat and Mass Transfer Processes |
| Lecturer |
dr inż. Jan Nowosielski |
| Semester |
Spring |
| Description |
The course deals with the design of heat and mass transfer processes for multicomponent mixtures in two-phase contacting systems. |
| Prerequisites |
The basic knowledge of mathematics (ODE and PDE), as well as physical chemistry, thermodynamics and process engineering is assumed. |
| Course content |
Diffusion fluxes in multicomponent mixtures. The use of the Stefan-Maxwell equations. Simultaneous heat and mass transfer in two phase contacting systems. Process classification with regard to the determining conditions and the presence of the inert component. Continuous multicomponent processes (absorption, rectification, condensation from inert gas, saturation of the inert gas). Modelling of the scalar quantity dispersion in two phase flows. The effect of the dispersion on the mass and heat transfer rate. The determination of the temperature and component concentration distribution in two phase contacting apparatus. |
