Description The aim of the course is to develop the methods of probability theory and statistics useful in chemical engineering and in experimental work. Also the course can be useful for planning and design of experiments and processing experimental results.
Prerequisites Mathematics at the level of the first year, in particular mathematical analysis and linear algebra, foundations of physics and chemical engineering.
Course content Probability space, random variables, Markov and Czebyszev inequalities, characteristic functions, limit theorems, central limit theorems, basic notions of statistics, interval estimation, confidence intervals, testing of hypothesis, Student and chi-square distributions, Fisher distribution, many-dimensional distributions, statistical tests, linear regression, least square method.
