| Course title |
Inorganic chemistry |
| Lecturer |
dr hab. Sławomir Podsiadło |
| Semester |
Winter |
| Description |
The course contains the fundamental knowledge of inorganic chemistry: chemical laws, equations and stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodic relationships of the elements, theories of the chemical bonds and properties of elements and inorganic compounds. |
| Prerequisites |
none |
| Course content |
Chemical laws (constant compositions, multiple proportions, Avogadro); chemical equations and stoichiometry (stoichiometry calculations, reactions in solution); atomic structure (elementary species, electron structure of the atoms), periodic relationships of the elements (Mendeleev`s and today`s periodic tables, electronegativity); theories of chemical bonds (ionic bond, valence bond model, molecular orbital model); molecular structure and the states of matter (gases, liquids, solid state); chemistry of elements (methods of production); chemistry of inorganic compounds (methods of production). |
