Course title Inorganic chemistry
Lecturer dr hab. Sławomir Podsiadło
Semester Winter
Description The course contains the fundamental knowledge of inorganic chemistry: chemical laws, equations and stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodic relationships of the elements, theories of the chemical bonds and properties of elements and inorganic compounds.
Prerequisites none
Course content Chemical laws (constant compositions, multiple proportions, Avogadro); chemical equations and stoichiometry (stoichiometry calculations, reactions in solution); atomic structure (elementary species, electron structure of the atoms), periodic relationships of the elements (Mendeleev`s and today`s periodic tables, electronegativity); theories of chemical bonds (ionic bond, valence bond model, molecular orbital model); molecular structure and the states of matter (gases, liquids, solid state); chemistry of elements (methods of production); chemistry of inorganic compounds (methods of production).
